Made with seared ground beef, tender oven fries, tart baby dill pickles, tangy cheddar, sweet tomatoes, vibrant onions, crisp lettuce and a flavorful burger sauce.

Single serving burger bowl showing ground beef, pickles, tomatoes, cheese, onion, baked fries and lettuce.

Burger bowls may seem all wrong at first glance because many of us grew up eating a classic burger not long after we could chew. So to take that special something that's American tradition that we've eaten for decades and modifying it to something that looks like a salad can just seem so strange. But to that I'd say, wait to give it your final opinion until you've tried them yourself and tasted of their exceptional flavor!

Burger bowls are simply a deconstructed burger made with the best things you get in a diner style burger and then some. The typical bun is traded for golden brown oven fries and it's polished off with a generous drizzle of savory burger sauce. A sauce that's similar to the spread at In-n-Out or Smash Burger sauce - being lightly sweet, slightly tangy, and extra creamy.

It's an exciting new way to switch up the typical piled high burger on a bun, into a piled high bowl spread out into an appetizing blend of colors and a satisfying variety of textures. It's a must try recipe for all burger lovers!

Chicken Caesar Wrap https://www.cookingclassy.com/chicken-avocado-caesar-salad-wrap/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/chicken-avocado-caesar-salad-wrap/#comments Wed, 21 May 2025 16:08:17 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=25034 This Chicken Caesar Wrap is a hearty, flavor loaded wrap layered with tender pieces of chicken, crisp lettuce leaves, bright tomatoes, rich avocados and a homemade creamy caesar dressing. It's such a satisfying summery lunch!

Close up photo of chicken caesar salad wrap in whole wheat tortillas.

Lately I've been loving wraps more than ever! They are such a welcome change to the same old sandwiches or salads we've had far too often.

Here you take a basic caesar salad, add in upgrades of avocados, chicken and tomatoes, along with a cool caesar dressing (and nix the croutons because the carbs on carbs seems overkill). Then wrap it all up in a jumbo tortilla and you've got a colorful, loaded wrap everyone will be envious of at your lunch hour (plus they are perfect for dinner too).

Yes, you could go the cheater route and use a store-bought caesar dressing to save time, but really this homemade caesar dressing makes the recipe what it is. Plus is easy to prep and most definitely worth the extra bit of effort and ingredients (many of which are kitchen staples).

And if you are wanting to live on the edge and splurge you could even take these chicken caesar wraps one step further and add cooked crumbled bacon. No one will complain!

Red Potato Salad https://www.cookingclassy.com/red-potato-salad/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/red-potato-salad/#comments Tue, 09 Jul 2024 03:28:31 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=72367 Refreshing Red Potato Salad - made with flavorful red skinned potatoes, a creamy, vibrantly lemony dressing, and fresh herbs. It's a traditional summer side dish that pairs well with all your bbq favorites.

Red Skin Potato Salad

This is a comfort food classic made with hearty, creamy red potatoes, dotted with the typical celery and pickles, and finished with a rich herby dressing to coat it all. The fresh lemon is a highlight here and the use of both mayonnaise and sour cream keeps it from feeling too heavy.

It's a simple to prepare side dish that keeps well in the fridge for several days and it's an ideal dish to serve on a hot day (trade in those baked potatoes for this!).

You can also adapt it to include other various mix-ins such as cooked bacon or hard boiled eggs (more ideas below), or just keep it simple without an extras. Either way this red potato salad is a summertime must!

Chilled and Refreshing Cold Pea Salad

Who doesn't love that bacon, cheddar, ranch combo? Even here in this pea salad it works wonders and really builds a basic salad into a memorable side dish.

It's an excellent option for an Easter dinner to serve with a honey baked ham, mashed potatoes, and the best homemade dinner rolls. Then for dessert carrot cake of course!

This pea salad is a much tastier option than serving those frozen peas plain, it's worth the bit of extra effort especially for a holiday celebration or weekend dinner.

It has a tempting blend of textures and well rounded flavor with it's sweet pea freshness, salty bacon, toasty almonds, the depth from the cheese, and a rich creamy dressing to polish it off. It's a salad fit for a feast!

Apple Chicken Salad https://www.cookingclassy.com/apple-pecan-rosemary-greek-yogurt-chicken-salad/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/apple-pecan-rosemary-greek-yogurt-chicken-salad/#comments Wed, 20 Sep 2023 15:47:09 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=20728 Refreshing Chicken Salad with Apples - This fall inspired recipe is loaded with crisp sweet apples, crunchy pecans, green onions, lightly tart cranberries and plenty of tender chicken. And it's all coated in a Greek yogurt based rich and creamy rosemary dressing.

Autumn Apple Pecan Chicken Salad

A crisp, apple studded, protein rich chicken salad that's perfect for a hearty autumn lunch or even a simple weeknight dinner that won't weigh you down.

It's made healthier with a combination of Greek yogurt and a little mayo, and it pairs beautifully with a hearty whole grain bread. Or you can serve it lower carb over lettuce leaves for another nutritious option.

This version is made with rotisserie chicken but you can use leftover cooked chicken breasts as well. I just recommend that you avoid canned chicken for a better chicken salad.

It's simple to make and worthy of your recipe collection!

Try serving it with baked sweet potato fries or sweet potato chips for a colorful fall pairing.

Elotes Mexican Street Corn https://www.cookingclassy.com/grilled-mexican-street-corn/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/grilled-mexican-street-corn/#comments Mon, 24 Jul 2023 03:36:10 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=29364 Grilled Mexican Street Corn is one of the ultimate summer side dishes! This homemade version is just as good as the elote corn you'll find from the vendors in Mexico. When served at parties and cookouts it will be the first thing to go!

Elotes finished with mayonnaise, crema, cotija, cilantro and Mexican hot sauce.

What is an Elote?

Elotes, also known as grilled Elote Mexicano, Mexican street corn, or Mexican grilled corn, is a popular Mexican street food. “Elote” means “corn on the cob” in Spanish, and the recipe consists of corn on the cob that has been grilled and slathered with a mayo or crema sauce, topped with Cotija cheese, and dusted with chili powder.

In Mexico, it is sold to locals and tourists from street carts much like pretzels or hot dogs in New York. Once you try elotes for the first time you'll be wondering "Where has this been all my life?!"

It's perfectly juicy and crisp, it has a delicious balance of sweet and spicy heat, the creamy coating with a zip of lime and chili powder perfectly compliments it's mellow flavor, and the cheese finish makes it amazingly crave-worthy.

This is a side dish you do not want to miss out on! I'd dare say it's a summer staple and should regularly be added to the dinner rotation.

Cucumber Sandwiches https://www.cookingclassy.com/cucumber-sandwiches/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/cucumber-sandwiches/#comments Wed, 19 Jul 2023 04:11:22 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=67945 Classic Cucumber Sandwiches! Light, refreshing, and unbelievably easy to make, they’re a staple finger food for afternoon tea, a baby shower, luncheons, a bridal shower, a brunch spread, picnics, and every occasion in between!

Where Did Cucumber Sandwiches Originate?

Cucumber sandwiches are often thought of as an English tradition. So, you might be surprised to learn that they were originally created in India. From there, they spread to China, the Middle East, and Europe.

It is said that the sandwiches were created by British colonists in India who were trying to find foods that would fill their bellies and relieve them from the intense temperatures of a hot summer day. The sandwiches then made their way back to England and became a staple component of Victorian-era high teas.

Today, they remain a popular recipe and are enjoyed all over the world. Quick, easy, and delicious, it’s not hard to see why they have been enjoyed for thousands of years. I’ll show you how to make them in minutes for the perfect snack, appetizer, or light lunch!

Homemade strawberry spinach salad with easy poppy seed dressing.

Easy Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Strawberries are one of my favorite summer fruits, and while I love sweet treats like strawberry shortcake trifles and a freshly baked strawberry rhubarb crumb bars, one of the best ways to put them to use is in this strawberry and spinach salad.

It’s made with a base of fresh spinach and strawberries tossed in a homemade poppyseed dressing, and you may love to include almonds and feta cheese, too.

You’ll find it comes together in minutes and makes a large batch perfect for feeding a crowd. Whether you need a quick side dish or a nutritious meal (with added rotisserie chicken), this salad always has your back. Plus, the dressing can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge so you can make this salad on repeat.

This may quickly become a go-to summer recipe for you! It's a breeze to throw together, has such a refreshing satisfying flavor, and you can easily modify the recipe using ingredients you have on hand (think spring salad blend, or blueberries or raspberries work well too).

So much to love about this super fresh salad!

Summery Chicken Pasta Salad https://www.cookingclassy.com/chicken-pasta-salad/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/chicken-pasta-salad/#comments Sat, 20 May 2023 14:23:37 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=67543 Summery Chicken Pasta Salad - Made with fun mini bowtie pasta, a lemony herb flecked dressing, sharp cheddar, crisp veggies, flavor-rich bacon, and tender rotisserie chicken. That's right—an easy chicken salad that gives you protein, veggies, and carbs in healthy doses. Swap this with your boring chicken salad recipes and you'll never go back. This is an absolute crowd pleaser!

Chicken Pasta Salad with bacon, cheddar and corn.

Club Chicken Pasta Salad

This is a family favorite pasta salad! It's similar to the taste of a club chicken sandwich meets a ranch salad. In other words, it's completely irresistible!

It has all the best flavors, including the unmistakable taste of dill, sweet corn, vibrant tomatoes, craveable cheese, meaty bacon, bone-in cooked chicken, and a rich, tangy dressing with the perfect creamy texture. And if you want one more summery mix-in, you can also include a buttery avocado.

It makes an extra-large batch, which is perfectly fitting for a summer cookout of about 12 people, but the recipe can easily be halved as well for a smaller family lunch or dinner (amounts are included at the bottom of the recipe). We've found this makes a great side dish alongside burgers or hot dogs.

Though you'll find it also keeps well in the fridge, so you may opt to just make the full batch and have the extra for lunch that's ready to go the following few days. It's a great option for meal prep!

This chicken pasta salad is chilled and refreshing and perfect for a hot summer day. Plus, it's such a tasty upgrade from traditional pasta salad with the expected mayo, celery, grapes, or apples. The colors are brighter, the produce is more seasonal, and the flavors are even bigger! So much delicious goodness in every serving!
