People of all ages love this sweet, bubbly drink. You can try it at Universal Studios' Wizarding World of Harry Potter, or brew your own Butterbeer for a Halloween party. Here I also share a lot of DIY Harry Potter Party ideas so you can bring a piece of the magic into your home too!

Homemade Butterbeer Recipe

It's now become a tradition in my house every year to host this party. And of course, the highlight of the party every year is hanging globes with tea lights (to mimic the floating candles in the movies) and the Butterbeer.

I've yet to meet someone who doesn't love Butterbeer. I've tried two Butterbeer recipes and I prefer this one by a long shot. The other one consisted of butter, cream, sugar, cream soda, and rum flavor and it was just too much—even for me. I love that easy Butterbeer recipe isn't overwhelmingly sweet and rich.

I've never had the real deal Butterbeer from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but this is just what I'd imagine it to be like. So, in other words, I can't say it's a total copycat recipe but no matter, it's amazing!! And the best part—it's so easy to make! All you have to do is flavor the soda and whip together the toppings.

For this year's party, we also had something like a Thanksgiving feast, sans turkey because I couldn't find one this time of year. So instead I went with ham, mashed potatoes and mom's ham gravy, pumpkin cornbread with cinnamon honey butter, butternut squash and pomegranate spinach salad, corn, pumpkin cheesecake with salted caramel sauce, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, and apple pie (also, here is the recipe of the caramel apples or you can use the microwave caramel recipe which is also delicious).

They always had those big feasts in the Great Hall so of course a big dinner is a must at the party!

You can find the glass globes in multiple places online as well as the battery tea lights. And a must are the class banners.

The lanterns pictured reminded me of the lanterns they'd carry into the Forbidden Forest in the movies. Then of course I found a Hedwig for the centerpiece.Butterbeer Recipe and a Harry Potter Party | Cooking Classy.Butterbeer Recipe and a Harry Potter Party | Cooking Classy

Harry Potter-themed Candy Bar

Here we have a very mini version of Honeydukes candy shop. Including chocolate frogs and wands, Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, caramel apple pops and real caramel apples, "muggle munch" which is candy corn, and "candied worms" which are the gummy worms.Butterbeer Recipe and a Harry Potter Party | Cooking ClassyButterbeer Recipe and a Harry Potter Party | Cooking ClassyButterbeer Recipe and a Harry Potter Party | Cooking Classy Ferrero Rocher chocolates make the perfect snitch truffles. For the wings, I cut one template and then used that for tracing so all the wings were the same and glued them on with hot glue.

Family Party Fruit Punch https://www.cookingclassy.com/fruit-punch/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/fruit-punch/#comments Thu, 01 Mar 2012 02:37:00 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/2012/02/fruit-punch/ For your next party, mix up some of this easy and delicious Family Party Fruit Punch! It contains actual fruit juice and can be made even healthier, so you're not serving up spoonfuls of sugar-and-chemical-loaded drink mix powders. Kids, and adults, will love this fun punch!

It's time to sneak some fruit juice into your kids' soda =).  I love this drink because it is a fruit punch.  It's made of half-fruit juice, it's not like those sodas flavored with artificial fruit flavors.  This punch also gets an incredible boost of flavor from the almond extract in it.

We call this beverage Family Party Fruit Punch because it is family-friendly with no alcohol and a little less sugar than punch mixes.  One definite highlight of this drink is its simplicity—you could have it made in under a minute. We always keep the ingredients on hand, so we're always ready to whip up this fun drink anytime we want to celebrate! I also love that it tastes surprisingly different than your average fruit punch, in my opinion, better. The grainy powders often fail to fully dissolve, and they can even stain skin and glassware! No thanks. Juices and sugar-free sodas are the way to go (even if your dentist still won't love it).

Fruit punch in a glass with a crazy straw

This party punch is also great for kids' birthday parties or special occasions, and you can experiment with different juices, sodas, food colorings, fun cups, silly straws, and even ice cubes made in funky ice cube molds! You might make a green party punch for St. Patrick's Day, pink or red for Valentine's, blue for Independence Day, or a favorite color for a specific loved one. Kids also love to help make this drink—just help with the pouring or you'll end up with a VERY sticky countertop!

Fruit Punch

The easiest homemade punch recipe! It has such a delicious, refreshing flavor.

  • 2 cups apple juice (, chilled)
  • 2 cups grape juice (, chilled)
  • 2 tsp almond extract
  • 4 cups lemon lime flavored soda (, such as Sprite, chilled)
  1. In a large pitcher, stir together apple juice, grape juice and almond extract. Pour in lemon lime soda and give it a quick stir (just don't over-mix after adding the soda or you will stir out the carbonation).
