What is Beef Shawarma?

If you’ve never had beef shawarma, you’re in for a treat.! A famous Middle Eastern street food, shawarma is made with chicken or beef that is heavily marinated in oil, lemon juice, and warm spices. Then, it is placed on a vertical rotisserie or spit and slow-roasted for days until it is unbelievably tender.

Most commonly, it is shaved off and served stuffed into bread with fresh toppings and a drizzle of tahini or tzatziki. However, you can also find it presented as part of a platter along with sides like tabbouleh and hummus. No matter how it’s plated, it’s always incredible and is guaranteed to leave you coming back for more.

Don’t worry, though. You don’t need a fancy spit to make your own beef shawarma at home. I’ll show you how to create the same bold flavor and tender texture by searing on the stovetop instead!

Perfectly Grilled Steak https://www.cookingclassy.com/grilled-steak/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/grilled-steak/#comments Sun, 03 Jul 2022 06:28:36 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=64700 Perfectly Grilled Steak - it's the ultimate meat to serve at a backyard cookout and there's hardly anything to it. With this easy method you'll end with beautifully seared steak, a juicy and tender interior and a glossy buttery finish.

Easy Grilled Steak Recipe

Grilled steak is an essential summer food, truly a highlight to the best backyard dinners.

Cooking steak on the grill keeps the heat out of the house and the smokiness outside so it's nice when you've got company to feed.

It's also a great option when you've got a handful of people to serve because of the obvious fact that on a gas grill or charcoal grill there's a lot more space to work with, while indoor pan searing only allows space for cooking 1 to 2 steaks at a time.

Just plan a little bit of extra time to let the steaks rest before you grill them. Beef needs time to rest!

Then to complete the steaks you can finish with a classic potatoes side of some sort (potato salad is a great option for summer BBQs) and other fresh vegetables to bring some nutrition to the meal (and you might as well grill those veggies while you've got it going). Add a bottle of steak sauce to your table if that's your thing. And if you want to go all out, serve them with warm dinner rolls and fresh jam like they do at the homestyle steakhouse.

Bulgogi https://www.cookingclassy.com/bulgogi/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/bulgogi/#comments Fri, 10 Jun 2022 04:45:56 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=64390 Korean Beef Bulgogi - it's made with tender pieces of steak that have been soaked in a flavorful bulgogi marinade sauce, and it's quickly pan seared in a cast iron skillet in batches until perfectly browned.

Serving of beef bulgogi paired with rice in a light blue bowl.

What is Beef Bulgogi?

Bulgogi, which translates to "fire meat," is a popular Korean barbecue dish made with beef such as top sirlioin, ribeye, or tenderloin. The beef is thinly sliced into bite size pieces then it's marinated in a simple, savory and sweet bulgogi sauce. After that it is either cooked on a charcoal or gas grill, pan seared on a griddle or stir fried in a skillet until the exterior is just browned and caramelized.

Bulgogi is pronounced in English buul-GOH-ghee when pronounced in Korean however there's more of a "p" sound in place of the "b."

It's an incredibly easy dish to make that really wows in flavor and it's something people of all ages can agree on, making it perfect for a fast weeknight family meal or for entertaining friends on the weekend!

Steak Tacos https://www.cookingclassy.com/steak-tacos/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/steak-tacos/#comments Wed, 25 May 2022 22:42:09 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=64422 The BEST Steak Tacos recipe! Steak pieces are soaked in a simple lime and ancho chili seasoned marinade and quickly pan seared in a super hot skillet until just perfectly browned. From there it's layered on tortillas and finished with your favorite toppings!

Easy Skillet Steak Tacos

Tacos are one of the best foods out there and these steak tacos are no exception!

They are brimming with bright lime flavor and delicious seasonings, the hint of honey in the marinade helps the steak sear beautifully, and the toppings that crown them are the perfect finishing highlight.

The key here is just to pick out good quality steak. I recommend looking for sirloin with a generous amount of marbling or using prime grade. Marbling is the fat swirled throughout the steak, more marbling means more flavor and a more tender piece of meat (I buy prime top sirloin at Costco for about $10 a pound, it's a great place to get good quality steak).

I think it's safe to say these tacos will quickly become a family favorite! They take little effort yet finish with big flavor.

Chinese Pepper Steak

Quick stir-fries - like this beefy, extra saucy Pepper Steak are a weeknight dinner staple. A great option for dinner success when not much time is available after a long day but you're still craving a flavorful homemade dish.

Here the process is simple. We blend a few ingredients to create a savory sauce, quick sear the steak and then the veggies, toss everything in that sauce and you've got dinner in a flash.

As with any recipe, the first time may be a little slower, but once you get this process down it's a breeze.

This is a delicious, ultra-satisfying dish everyone will be excited about! And you didn't have to spend hours in the kitchen preparing it.

Serve it with brown rice or white rice to finish it off. And for a simple time saving tip - cook a big batch of rice over the weekend and keep it stashed in the freezer in portions to save the hassle when you need it on busy days.

Carne Asada https://www.cookingclassy.com/carne-asada/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/carne-asada/#comments Wed, 15 Jul 2020 05:52:11 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=55525 Carne Asada - a must make Mexican recipe! Flank (or skirt steak) is marinated in a fresh, savory marinade that's rich in spices, herbs and bright citrus flavor. Then it's cooked over a hot grill to lend that perfect crave-able charred flavor to the exterior of the meat.Overhead image of sliced carne asada on an oval white serving platter with cilantro, limes and tortillas on the side.

What is Carne Asada?

Carne Asada is a Mexican dish made with marinated beef (using less expensive cuts of steak such as skirt, flank, tenderloin, or rib) and it's usually cooked on a grill or in a heavy skillet.

Most frequently it's served alone or in tacos but can also be added to many various dishes (see ideas below).

Personally, it's one of my favorite things to order when eating out at Mexican restaurants, but of course I also love to make it at home.

This recipe is the best blend I've come up with, with a little of this and a handful of that. And together it creates one perfectly harmonious blend of flavors. Chef's kiss on this one!

It's a recipe everyone can agree on and one everyone will look forward to after a long day!Beef and broccoli over white rice in a bowl.

Beef and Broccoli

This beef and broccoli recipe is perfect for those nights when you're craving Chinese, but can't really justify another night of takeout. All the fresh ingredients and the homemade sauce take this go-to takeout dish to a whole new level.

Once you try even a single bite, you'll wonder why you ever waited so long to just make your own. Whip up a batch in no time with a list of easy ingredients and easy to follow instructions. And did I mention it's all cooked in one pan?

Serve it up atop at freshly cooked rice (I recommend jasmine rice or brown rice) to pair with the extra sauce. Then eat it with chopsticks of course, because Chinese food just tastes better eaten this way, right?

Steak Kebabs with Chimichurri https://www.cookingclassy.com/steak-kebabs-with-chimichurri/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/steak-kebabs-with-chimichurri/#comments Fri, 27 Apr 2018 00:31:41 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=37666 Steak Kebabs with Chimichurri are the perfect flavorful food to welcome the warmer weather with! No marinating is required for these, rather you just grill the steak and veggies with a little oil and salt and pepper then afterward you finish them off with plenty of this bright and super herby chimichurri sauce. It's a match meant to be and they'll win the crowd over!

Steak Kebabs with Chimichurri

I love this recipe because like I mentioned no marinating is needed. A good steak doesn't need a marinade anyway but a lot of steak kebab/skewer recipes do call for a marinade but not these!

Most of the flavor here comes from the chimichurri and it's added after they're cooked because we want to keep that chimichurri flavor super fresh and raw. If you haven't had chimichurri you need to try it, I mean NEED. In the summer I make it a couple of times a month for grilled chicken and I absolutely love it here with the steak and veggies.

Ingredients You'll Need for These Chimichurri Steak Kebabs

  • Sirloin steak (thicker cuts, about 1-inch thick)
  • Red onion
  • Grape tomatoes
  • Zucchini
  • Olive oil
  • Kosher Salt and pepper
  • Fresh Parsley
  • Fresh Cilantro
  • Dried oregano
  • Garlic cloves
  • Lemon juice and/or lime juice
  • Red wine vinegar
