Yes definitely. Turnips, parsnips, radish. Or add cauliflower last 30 mins or so.

Can they be substituted for more carrots or a different vegetable perhaps?

It’s been cooking for a little over two hours. I just put it on low. How long do you think? Thanks! Can’t wait to try it!

You could, however note that the roast won’t be quite as tender so slow cooking is preferred for the 8 hours.

I have a 3.81 pound pot roast. Can I just cook it on high for 4 to 5 hours and use this recipe?

It turned out perfectly! I added a sweet potato, because I’m not a fan of carrots, along with a few other veggies. I will definitely make it again.

You might have had your crock pot on “warm” instead of “low”. I’ve done this before with a whole chicken.

Yes I probably would for 2 hours high, 4 on low.

Just a note at the end when you say to mix 3 tbsp of beef broth. In some countries, the broth only comes in dry cubes that you have to mix with hot water, so we don’t have the boxed broth like in Canada/States. Might be good to add the distinction not to just put the starch in the hot broth :D otherwise it won’t dissolve properly and to make it separately or to cool down 3 tbsp of the existing one.

Hope this helps someone who also doesn’t have boxed broth! Otherwise, perfect recipe. I think it’s my favourite dish ever to cook in the crockpot! Thanks so much for sharing!
